18 and counting

I am 18! Months old that is. Mommy thinks this is a good time to self-reflect and think about all the things that make me, me. Hmm, what can I tell you about myself?

I still like to clean. I love it when I get handed a napkin and I wipe everything. My tray table. The walls. The floor. My face. I'll grab tissue after tissue just so I can wipe my face and then throw it in the trash. I think mommy thought the cleaning was just a phase, until we were at daycare for a Halloween party and someone pointed out that I was the only one trying to clean the floor after some food fell on it. Daddy's response? What's wrong with that?

I love books. Book? Book? Book? I have to repeat myself several times before mommy and daddy get the hint that I want to sit on their laps and read. I could do this ALL day.

My favorite expression? Whoahhhh. Oh yeah, and oh oh. Oh oh, there's something on the ground. Oh oh, I spilled some water. Oh oh, I am about to drop some food on the ground so you'll pay attention to me!

The first animal I can name - duck. Everything is a duck. Those Canadian geese on the river? DUCK. The cat in the book? DUCK.

I love shoes. I run to get my shoes when it's time to go out. And I get mommy's shoes too and bring them to her. Today, I hid one of my shoes on daddy in the morning when it was time to go. Ha ha! That's a fun game. Between my shoes and my hat (I pat my head to make sure mommy and daddy know that's where it goes), I am set to go out. Just don't bother me with a coat. Or mittens for that matter. Why do we need those?

I like lotion. After bath time, mommy gives me some on my hand and I wipe it around. On my other hand. On my tummy. On my feet. It's fun! Now that we don't use sunscreen much since it's cold out, this is the next best thing. Daddy says putting on lotion is a treat - just like a massage at the spa. Does this mean I'll get to go the spa when I am older?? Maybe mommy and I can go and bond.

I am the official door greeter. Hiiiiiii Daddy! Welcome home!

I am becoming an expert climber. Mommy thinks that one day, I'll become a good rock climber. This is something she and daddy used to do together so maybe I can convince them to take me since I am sure to get bored of the stuff I am doing these days. I like climbing on the sofa (over the arm part), leather chairs, coffee tables, and even park benches. I surprised everyone recently when I climbed up this playground ramp.

Here I am with the initial try. As with any good climber, I had to scope it out and determine my technique.

Here I am again displaying my own climbing technique. I think daddy was pretty impressed. This is where mommy felt the need to spot me but I could do it myself.

Finally, I am a good helper. I like to rake leaves outside. Of course, I rake them away from the pile. And I like to put the leaves in the bag, but after I've walked through the pile and spread the leaves around a bit. Maybe all of this raking and running through the leaves is just to get me ready for when the snow comes!!!

wow. i'm just reading this now, but it's uncanny how similar the girls are/were at this stage. naki just turned 19 mos, but she loves/does all the same things. we literally read for an hour before she goes to bed every nite. and she loves cleaning EVERYTHING. and lotion, don't get me started w/ lotion! she's not a fan of ducks, but rather butterfly & monkey. ohhhh, i wish we were still living close to each other. miss you guys!!!
