code PINK

Lately, wherever Julia goes, so does one of her favorite possessions - her pink shovel. She brought it onto the plane with her when we flew to Florida and had fellow passengers admiring her for her readiness to go to the beach.

Today, she brought it out with us in our adventure downtown. She had it beside her while we had dim sum. And even used it at one point to eat congee (although that didn't work too well).

Then we went to the aquarium. We went inside and were admiring the penguins. Mommy thought it might be a good idea to put the shovel away, but Julia refused. No less than 45 seconds later....

Code PINK! We have a code PINK.

Shovel overboard. And floating in the water.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Daddy rushed off to talk to the workers (more to tell them in case it was a hazard for the animals).

Meanwhile, mommy and Julia watched. Watched as the shovel floated by a rock where some penguins were standing. Watched as one of the penguins decided to swim and grab the shovel in its beak. WHAHHHHHHH - accompanied by lots of frantic pointing too. (Mommy is secretly wishing in hindsight that she had the video camera going while the penguin was doing this because it was quite funny.) After awhile, we just had to turn away and leave the shovel behind. The workers said a penguin diver would go in later and fetch the shovel for us.

So, we went on our merry way and found another shovel (ironically) to let Julia hold. Out of sight, out of mind? We'll see. Just after we left the aquarium, we got the call. They have our shovel! We can pick it up at any time. Hopefully, we can get back there soon.

Oh no, tragedy strikes! I'm glad Julia left happy, new shovel in hand :)

We lost a special toy in Disney World...so we know what that's like!
