Have had no access to a swimming pool this entire pregnancy until this past weekend when we were away for a conference in Houston. Thought it would be a chance to finally get some exercise doing one of the few things that is supposedly easy to do while carrying a pigglet. The result? They weren't kidding! For the first time, I felt no pressure anywhere from carrying this extra weight. It's better than sitting, standing, anything!! Now, if they could only make a bed in the pool so I could sleep while floating in this state. Of course, reality hits when you get *out* of the pool.
Side story #1 - a colleague was also using swimming as a way to keep fit while pregnant. When she learned that her daughter was breech at the time, the doctors told her to get into a pool and do handstands to see if that could "rotate" her baby the right way. So odd. And no, it didn't work.
Side story #2 - while in Houston, we attended the rodeo (much like the Calgary Stampede for the folks up north). Jack managed to see piglet races...where little piglets run around a track and go chasing for the prize at the end of the course - an oreo cookie! Maybe we'll need to keep oreos in mind as a reward incentive for our pigglet....
