the next concert pianist?

One of the most frequent comments we get when people meet Julia is low long her fingers are. Then, as soon as they say that, the next thing is - "you should get her into piano."

Yesterday, we decided it was never too early to start the classical training so we took Julia to her first symphony. The best part was that the show was outside! Every summer, the Philadelphia Orchestra plays a series of concerts at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts - an outdoor venue where people can either purchase real seats or lawn seats (aka a spot on the grass). For the lawn seats, people bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs, and blankets and sit out under the stars and listen to the music. It's one of our favorite things to do when the weather is nice.

Julia slept through half the concert and woke up during intermission after all the applause. Still have to work on the clapping bit with her...

For our classically trained musician friends, this was the program:

Rossen Milanov, conductor

Itzhak Perlman, violin

chabrier EspaƱa

Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64

shchedrin Carmen Suite (after Bizet)
