when all else fails

They say babies like movement, which is why so many parents will resort to putting their little one in a car seat and going for a drive when nothing else seems to be working. Lately, it is starting to seem like the only way Julia will sleep during the day is if you are holding her. Note: She doesn't even have to be in a comfortable position by the looks of it. Of course, this holding business isn't the most feasible if you are trying to get some things done during the day!

Today, after a few hours of fussing and attempts to put her down without success, we resorted to the car seat. But, instead of going out for a drive, we decided to see if a "cruise" around the lobby of our building could do the trick. Could this work? Like a charm - in 10 minutes. Then we just wheeled her back into the apartment and let her sleep!

Needless to say, we will most likely be cruising the lobby on a regular basis in the near future.

In several newborn nurseries and pediatric hospitals, the nurses used to consider a swing mandatory equipment to sooth the babies and for staff sanity. Worked like a charm on even the most difficult babies. When they are older and not sleeping so much, they still like the motion and can watch Mom while she is trying to get a few things done around the house.

Of course when Max was born he would have nohing to do with such a thing.

Good luck,
Joanne
